“ LOVED the oyster selection my waiter chose for me to sample a variety of different ones! So fresh and YUM! My husband loved his fish tacos with grilled (not fried) fish. The martini was perfect with the oysters. ”
“ The food here was amazing!! The service was on point, and staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was perfect! Not too loud, but not a library! Lol. Definitely going back. ”
“ Excellent services and foods. We had oysters. They were super fresh. We came on Valentine's Day with no reservations but we were early because we had to catch a show later. They sat us and even allow us to order an appetizer from the Valentine's menu. No prefix menu. That was pretty awesome! Young and upbeat atmosphere. ”
“ Very nice restaurant in Times Square. Place was packed and the service was really good. My wife ordered the linguini white clam and really enjoyed it. We also had oysters for the apps with pear salad and fish tacos. Cocktails were pretty pricey. I had oysters and new England clam chowder. We all enjoyed our meals and would definitely go back. Only thing about this place is its pretty pricey. Group of 4 with only 3 people ordering an entree, 2 1/2 dozen oysters, an order of fish tacos, the linguini, 2 old fashioned, 2 beers and 2 other cocktails came out to 450. I know prices are high but this is stratospheric! This would be my only complaint. Get ready to splurge and enjoy but you may feel a little shocked paying the inflated price. I can add these up all day and 450 is high! ”
“ Our first time at the Mermaid Oyster Bar was an incredible experience! Our server went above and beyond for our daughter's birthday and even gave us a free bottle of their hot sauce that we were raving about. From the oysters (of course), so fresh and light, to the clam chowder to the lightly fried artichoke hearts to the escargot lobster knuckles were succulent and delicious! The surprise was the chicken tenders for our girls who are very picky but they ate every morsel of them (with the aforementioned hot sauce). We will be back!! ”
“ This was the second time that I had been to a Mermaid Inn restaurant in the last couple of months and I loved it just as much. This time around I ordered something different although my drink order will always be a virgin bloody mary. They had it on the menu at this location. It was really good and I was happy with how they make it at this location too. To start I ordered a dozen oysters and for my main meal I ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese. I got to try a couple of other things too. The shishito peppers were really good. They were a bit undercooked but some were just right. The brussel sprouts were delicious. I did notice that the tuna had too much sauce and that the salad didn't have enough sauce. I also noticed that they didn't have chocolate pudding on the menu. Apparently they refuse to put it on the menu. I would love to give a full five stars on my review but maybe that final star could be an incentive to put it on as an option. Overall the service was great and I wasn't surprised by how much I loved this location too. I hope to come back soon. ”
“ We had a wonderful time at the mermaid inn! The food was amazing (split the kale salad and the linguini with clams) The almond espresso martini was delicious!! Dave was serving us at the bar and he was the best. We will definitely be back. ”
“ We went mainly for the oysters. The printed menu had about four or five oyster options. We chose 4 East Coast Oysters: the Naked Cowboy and 4 Chunu. I have not had either but based on the descriptions and asking the waiter we decided on these two. They were okay--not the meaty, sweet oysters I prefer. Unfortunately, neither had that sweet flavor I look for. The cocktail sauce was rather bland, lacking horseradish or any kick, while the second sauce was sweeter with a hint of vinegar but missing the shallots typical of a mignonette. I did prefer that one, though! Since I wasn't particularly excited about the entree options, I opted for the Lobster Knuckles from the appetizer menu. They came in a dish similar to escargot, topped with a generous amount of breadcrumbs, parsley, and cheese. It was tasty, especially when paired with the one piece of toast they provided to soak up the sauce. My husband had the linguini and clams, which he found delicious. Although it had a bit too much arugula which he found unnecessary. Once he set that aside, he really enjoyed it. The broth was flavorful! The kitchen does go a bit heavy on the parsley. The restaurant is roomy and beautifully designed. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. There's a nice bar with plenty of seating, as well as the oyster bar where two gentlemen were shucking oysters, complete with stools and place settings. Ultimately, it was a bit of a varied experience. The oysters weren't what I had hoped for, but the Lobster Knuckles and linguini had their moments. ”
